A new Sun Media-Leger Marketing poll suggests the election of a Conservative government in Ottawa is proving luckier for Dalton McGuinty than John Tory.
The poll shows the provincial Liberals with a fresh lead over their Tory competitors, said Craig Worden, associate vice-president of public affairs for Leger Marketing. They had been locked in a statistical tie prior to the federal election.
“I think the question from here on is will a Conservative government in Ottawa be bad for the Tories in Ontario,” Worden said.
The survey found 37% of decided Ontario voters support the Dalton McGuinty Liberals, 33% the John Tory Progressive Conservatives and 21% Howard Hampton’s NDP, while 9% back other parties.
